1. What is the Emotion Code?

First, credit to its creator! The Emotion Code was created by Dr. Bradley Nelson, a holistic chiropractor physician, and one of the world’s foremost experts in the emerging fields of bio-energetic medicine and energy psychology. Ok, so what is it? The Emotion Code is an energy healing technique designed to help identify and release emotional energies from past negative events that are trapped in our body tissues.

And why is releasing these trapped emotions important? Because they are causing distortions and dis-ease in our physical, emotional and mental bodies. They can be behind anything from feelings of disconnection, to anxiety, depression, pain, chronic diseases, cravings or even behavioral patterns (like anger triggers or fear based responses).

The good news is that by clearing these trapped emotions, the symptoms of the disease or condition become noticeably better — and often the disease or condition itself completely disappears.”


2. Everything is Energy!Dr. Brad - Mind-body

Let’s start from the beginning here! All that we see (and don’t see) around us is made of the same basic building blocks. At its most basic level, all is energy. Our bodies are energy arranged according to a certain template, which we perceive as physical. Our thoughts are energy in a more subtle form, which although we may not see, are as real and affect us as our physical bodies (just remember how you feel when you have a pressing issue on your mind). And our emotions are energy, and those we feel, so, although we may not see them as “things”, we know they are real and have influence over us.

Energy medicine dates back millennia, and we still enjoy today the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. Both these healing modalities work with energy in specific ways to affect healing. Modern day science is also affirming the same, with quantum physics showing that we and everything else around us is energy.


3. Trapped Emotions

Since all is energy, all is interacting at this basic level. When we eat, we’re taking in the energy of our food to our body; when we think, we’re taking in the energy frequency of our thought and making it real to our body; and when we experience an emotion, we’re feeling an energy frequency being broadcasted from us, through our body. And the “through” word in the last sentence is key. Emotions are supposed to flow through our bodies, where we can feel them, and then allow them to move on. But sometimes they get trapped in our body tissues.

Trapped emotions are balls of energy that vibrate at the unique frequency of the emotion they came from (for example, anger and fear are two very distinct frequencies). So, if for any reason an emotion can’t fully flow through us, we get “pinned” with an energy ball tuned to the frequency of that particular emotion, and it becomes lodged somewhere where it was never intended to be.

After a while we’re walking around with emotional baggage from all kinds of painful life events, that may have happened years or even decades ago. That’s a very heavy load for us to carry! Trapped emotions affect the body wherever they’re stuck and can create everything from pain and malfunction of bodily tissues (causing diseases) to mental and emotional imbalances, like anxiety or depression.

When we start to release these disharmonious energies we become lighter, happier, calmer and we help make conditions right again for the body to heal itself. In practical terms, we often see physical and emotional difficulties disappear or they become much more manageable.


4. The Heartwall

A particular energy “protection” most of us “acquire” at some point in our lives is a heartwall. A heartwall is exactly what it evokes; a wall around the heart. This wall is created by the subconscious mind when it feels that its most important organ, the heart, is at risk of breaking; because if it did, the rest of the body would follow (you can die from a broken heart, it’s not just a poetic expression). So, the subconscious mind finds energies in the body that are not really being used, and it arranges them in front of and around the heart, to create a protection wall. This desensitizes the heart feeling capacity and acts like a cushion, softening blows that would otherwise be devastating.

Dr. Brad - HeartwallSounds good so far, doesn’t it? The problem is that the energy that this wall is made of are trapped emotions. This means we end up walking around with emotions like frustration, anger, resentment or any other negative emotions, right in front of our heart, still vibrating at their particular emotional frequency.

The heart is the main broadcasting and receiving station of the body. When we generate feelings, they are broadcasted out from the heart, and when someone beams an emotion at us (love, for example), it enters through our heart station too! So, if you’re trying to broadcast a loving message, and it has all types of distortions to go through (like fear and anger) before reaching its destination, you can imagine that what is received by the other party isn’t what you sent out originally!

And a protection may have served you in the past, if you were indeed at risk of having your heart irreparably broken, but if you’re not in that situation anymore, it’s creating a barrier between you and all that you want to experience and give. Like Dr. Bradley Nelson likes to say, living in a bomb shelter in times of war is useful and can save your life; but in times of peace, if you continue to “live” in there you’ll feel sad, disconnected, frustrated and you could even end up with heart problems down the road. It’s limiting and it’s only restricting your experience and life. Releasing the heartwall can free you to live from your heart, create abundance and experience true love.


5. How do We Identify Trapped Emotions?

The Subconscious Mind

A key player in our health and life is our subconscious mind. It is our subconscious that keeps track of every moment of our day, everything we’ve ever eaten or tasted, or touched or smelled. Basically, it knows the entire history of our health! It’s the subconscious mind that knows exactly what emotions are trapped in the body and causing certain effects, or symptoms. And it’s the subconscious mind that gives us the information on what trapped emotions need to be released, and in what order, to help restore balance in the physical, mental and emotional bodies.

Muscle Testing

So, how can we access the subconscious mind to get this information? Through muscle testing, which is a built in tool of the body that gives us yes/no (or true/false) answers. We just have to know how to ask the right questions! We can compare muscle testing to a polygraph test, both read electrical responses that flow through the body, and show consistent results that are read as true or false answers.

As is well documented in Traditional Chinese Medicine, we have many energy “rivers” that run all through our body, the meridians, and these are supposed to flow energy freely into every cell. Since our natural state is one of truth, love and harmony, anything we say or think along those lines will keep the energy flowing freely. But if we lie or focus on something not loving or harmonious, the energy flow will weaken, and it will be noticeable in our muscle strength. And this is how muscle testing is done. We choose a particular muscle group and apply pressure to test its strength.

The answers are not given by the conscious mind, the question is directed at the subconscious, who knows everything about our health. This means the person being tested doesn’t have to know the answer, but rather, just let the muscle testing get the answer from the subconscious. If, after asking a question, the muscles stay strong and able to resist the pressure, the answer is “yes” or “true”; if they weaken and can’t resist as before, the answer is “no” or “false”.

What kinds of questions do we ask then? Imagine a person books a session because he/she frequently experiences migraines. We can start by asking “Is there any trapped emotion that is causing these migraines?” and if the subconscious answers “yes”, we can then use the Emotion Code to identify which emotion is trapped, and after that, release it, because if the subconscious identifies a particular emotion, it means it is ready to go!

Across the World – Proxy Testing

An amazing part of this process is proxy testing. Proxy testing is muscle testing that is done on a proxy – a person who acts in place of another person. We can compare it to a global and interspecies phone network, where we each have our own, particular “phone number”. This “phone number” is a frequency, a very unique frequency that our body has the capacity of “dialing” into, and in so doing, it creates an energetic connection between two people, or a person and an animal.

After that connection is made, we can get the answers from the subconscious mind about what is going on with this other person or animal’s body, because we’re picking up their energetic signal. Then once we know what needs to be fixed, we can fix it on the proxy person as well, and it corrects the problem on the person who we’re intending to help, no matter how far away the person is. After the session is done, we disconnect from the other person, just like hanging up the phone at the end of a chat.

Proxy testing is an amazing tool and an affirmation that we are all connected on our beautiful planet!


6. How are Trapped Emotions Released?Dr. Brad - Balance

Trapped emotions are released using magnets. Since we’re working with energy, and as is commonly said “energy flows where attention goes”, it’s our attention, focus and intention that gives the subconscious mind the command and energy to help release trapped emotions. And magnets are pure energy! They act as amplifiers of that focus and intention, boosting it and sending its healing intentions and energy multiplied thousands of times!

How do we use magnets? After identifying a trapped emotion with the Emotion Code (through muscle testing), we focus our intention to release that emotion, and then roll the magnet down the Governing Meridian to amplify that healing intention and flow that energy into the body.

The Governing Meridian is an energy reservoir that connects directly to all the acupuncture meridians of the entire body. So when we put energy into the Governing Meridian, it flows instantly throughout the body and the trapped emotion is released. Then it’s time to rinse and repeat, meaning, we identify and release the next trapped emotion given by the subconscious mind.

When working as a proxy, the magnet is rolled on the practitioner’s Governing Meridian, and the healing intention and energy are sent to the client’s Governing Meridian. Again, an amazing affirmation that we’re all connected!

Continuing with the previous example of a migraine focused session, after asking and identifying a trapped emotion of fear, for example, we would roll the magnet down the Governing Meridian of either the person or the proxy, with the intention of releasing that trapped emotion. We would then ask if the emotion was completely released and muscle test to get the answer. If it wasn’t, we’d repeat the releasing intention and the rolling of the magnet; if it was, we could then move on to identifying and releasing another trapped emotion.


7. What do We do in an Emotion Code Session?

An Emotion Code session is where we’ll connect to find and release as many trapped emotions as possible related to the issue or goal you want to address (which is called your session focus). You can have more than one session focus, but it’s usually more effective in terms of results if we focus on 1 or 2 at a time!

Sessions usually last from 25 to 30 minutes, and after the session is completed, you’ll be lighter in your emotional baggage and you’ll know how long it will take your body to process the changes that releasing those trapped emotions implies. Although this is a gentle therapy, it is powerful and the body needs to be allowed its recovery time! This is called the processing time, and if you buy multiple sessions, they will be scheduled with a minimum of this processing period in between them.

You can choose between two types of Emotion Code sessions, a remote Email session or a remote Skype phone session. Here are the main advantages to each:

  • Email Sessions: there are no appointments involved, which is beneficial for overseas clients who have a significant difference in time zone and/or a language barrier, and also for clients all over the world who have busy or demanding schedules. The session is completed in 48h after the booking is received and approved, and a session report is sent to you via email. Email support is provided to answer any questions or doubts you may have. This is also the recommended type of session for animals.
  • Skype Sessions: you can participate more actively in the session, linking events in your past to the emotions being released, and sometimes feeling the sensations of that release in real time. You can also clear your doubts in real time. After completing the Skype phone session, a session report is sent to you via email. Email support is provided to answer any questions or doubts you may have afterwards.

In any kind of session I’ll be asking questions that help identify the trapped emotions behind your issue or goal. Examples of questions may be:

  • What is causing…? (fill in the issue or complaint)
  • Is there any energy contributing to…? (fill in the issue or complaint)
  • What needs to be released in order to…? (fill in a goal or objective)
  • Am I okay with receiving…? (fill in a goal or objective)

After the question is asked, then we start identifying the emotions that come up, and I’ll use self muscle testing for this (see Proxy Testing). After identifying an emotion, we release them on you, through me, with magnets (see How are Trapped Emotions Released). Elegant, quick and effective!


8. In a Nutshell…

And that’s how the Emotion Code works. We connect to the subconscious mind, identify a trapped emotion that is underneath an issue, and release it using a healing intention and magnets. Then we rinse and repeat!

It’s a brilliant and effective system, elegant in its simplicity and broad spectrum of applications! You can use it for physical, mental and emotional conditions; with people of ALL ages and animals of ANY species, and have healing results that come from the core, meaning, the Emotion Code addresses the real issue underneath any outside manifestation, and helps release those disharmonious energies to promote true healing.
