HEAL COLDS NATURALLY, NO MEDS!

Hello! Today I’m giving you my “secret” method to quickly and naturally heal colds!

Usually we associate colds and flues with winter time, but it isn’t only during this season that we catch colds. Any sudden change in temperature or atmospheric conditions, going from hot to cold environments (like air-conditioned offices) or even exercising and sweating and then moving through cold rooms can cause imbalances in your body and be the start of a cold.

To prevent colds and flues it’s best to avoid these sudden temperature changes as much as possible and keep our body well nourished, with our immune defenses strong (good nutrition and all the advices on the report “7 Quick Ways to Heal Your Body and Mind”).

But when we find ourselves sneezing, coughing and/or with a dripping nose, the first step to heal colds is to stop the cold incubation immediately by helping our body cleanse the stressors. By the way, the method discussed below is also very effective in helping relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis.

As a note: If you get sick easily, catch colds, have constant headaches or feel constantly low on energy, you may be dealing with too much stressors that are causing inflammation. One very common stressor is food. Yes, food.

We have become used to eating everything just because it tastes good and we get cravings, but the food we are eating may very well be causing harm to our body. Not all of it, of course, but many (MANY!) people have food sensitivities they are not aware of, and by continually eating these foods, they cause more and more inflammation in their guts (where most of our immune defenses are).

This leads to their defenses becoming more and more depleted, and they become fatigued and vulnerable to minor and major problems.

So, back to colds, what can we do to help our body heal colds naturally, without cold medications? Two things: the first is cleansing the sinuses and the second is getting rid of phlegm, if it exists.

To cleanse the sinuses I use a neti pot (also called a nose wash or nose bidet). This is a brilliant little item that looks like a miniature watering pot. If you don’t know what it is, check this one on Amazon. The neti pot is filled with a mixture of warm purified water and non-iodized salt (about 1% of salt dissolved in the water, or from ¼ to ½ teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of water, start with ¼ and see if you’re comfortable with this ratio). Then you firmly place its spout on one of your nostrils, tilt your head forward in the direction of the other nostril and adjust your head angle until the water solution begins to fall from the free nostril. Use half of the mixture on each nostril and, in the end, gently blow your nose to get rid of solution that may still be in your sinuses.

As a suggestion, either do this in the morning, before your morning routine or at night, before going to bed, because, if you’re like me, you’ll have red watering eyes, a bright red nose (a must for Christmas!), and you’ll probably spray nose water (the one you’ll blow) on your clothes! So, you’ll look like a mess, but you’ll FEEL GREAT and be able to breathe deeply again!

Although this is a very simple procedure, it is also very powerful. I haven’t taken any cold medication ever since I started using my neti pot, about 2 years ago! And usually, 2 to 3 days of this is all you need to completely remove any signs of a cold.

The second way to help the body heal colds, if you already have cough or phlegm (or mucus), is to take onion and honey syrup, which has antibiotic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and mucolytic properties, helping soothe sore throats and thin the existing mucus to make it easier to expel.

How do you make onion and honey syrup? You slice one small red or yellow onion and place it in a glass jar (must have a lid); then you cover the onion with raw honey and it’s done (although not ready to take yet!). Place the lid on the jar and the jar on the refrigerator. It must stay in the refrigerator overnight so that the honey and the onion juices can mix. Then you can take it: 1 or 2 tablespoons twice a day, until you get rid of the cough. This syrup should be kept in the refrigerator, and it keeps its properties for about 3 days.

So, there you have it, 2 natural and very effective ways to help your body heal colds and flues naturally and in a very short period of time! Of course the best cure is always prevention, but if you find yourself sneezing or coughing, give these two cures a try, you’ll be amazed at how well and fast they work!
